Teddie M. Potter serves as Clinical Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, directing the Center for Planetary Health and Environmental Justice while coordinating the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Health Innovation and Leadership program. She additionally contributes to institutional governance as an appointed member of the University of Minnesota Bias Response Team.
Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Humanities, Transformative Studies from California Institute of Integral Studies (2010), MS in Nursing Higher Education from the University of Minnesota (1999), and BSN from St. Olaf College (1979), complemented by professional certifications in Equity and Diversity, LEAD, International Curriculum design, and TeamSTEPPS Master Training.
Dr. Potter's research centers on planetary health with emphatic focus on climate-health intersections, environmental justice, and nursing's strategic role in global sustainability. She pioneers frameworks for healthcare decarbonization, climate-resilient health systems, and nursing leadership in United Nations policy arenas, with particular expertise in low-resource settings and rural community applications.
Her recent publications reveal accelerating scholarly impact on climate-health action, demonstrating methodological evolution from theoretical frameworks to implementation science and policy translation across 40+ outputs since 2002, with notable concentration in 2023-2025 publications addressing decarbonization, infectious disease management under climate stress, and nursing's global advocacy role.
