Dr. Ted Huppert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioengineering & Radiology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is affiliated with the Neuroscience Institute, serving as part of the PNC Training Faculty. His research focuses on developing multimodal methods for noninvasive neuroimaging, emphasizing signal processing, statistical analysis, and modeling techniques to enhance brain imaging technologies. He leads the M3(NI)2 lab, dedicated to advancing neuroimaging tools and methodologies.
Key contributions include software development such as the Brain AnalyzIR toolbox and NIRS .NET framework, which are widely used for data analysis and acquisition in functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). His work integrates hardware synchronization, real-time analysis, and data quality assessment through tools like Phoebe and NIRS-SPM.
Dr. Huppert’s research spans neuroimaging applications in clinical and experimental settings, with a focus on improving data accuracy and accessibility. His lab collaborates on open-source initiatives, contributing to standards like the SNIRF data format. Training and education are central to his role, mentoring students through graduate programs and offering resources like the NIRx channel tutorials and AnalyzIR group analysis workflows.
