Alexander von Lühmann is the Head of the “Intelligent Biomedical Sensing” research group at TU Berlin’s Machine Learning department and BIFOLD. He holds a visiting researcher position at the Neurophotonics Center of Boston University (BU NPC) and serves as Lead Technology Advisor at NIRx Medical Technologies. His career includes roles as Chief Science Officer and R&D Director at NIRx (2.5 years), post-doctoral researcher at BU, visiting researcher at Harvard Medical School, and Chief Technology Officer at Crely (a US/Singapore healthcare startup).
Education: Dr.-Ing. (PhD) in Machine Learning & Neurotechnology (TU Berlin, 2018, with distinction), M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, 2014 and 2011).
Research focuses on biomedical wearable neurotechnology, including Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), Electroencephalography (EEG), and multimodal data analysis. Key interests span brain-body interaction monitoring, mental state decoding, and biomarker discovery. His work bridges engineering and clinical applications, emphasizing real-world neuroscience.
