Dr. Tawna Wilkinson is a Clinical Associate Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine's Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, serving as Program Director for the Tufts Doctor of Physical Therapy Program-Phoenix. She has held leadership roles in academia since 2004 and clinical pediatric physical therapy since 1999. Her affiliations include A.T. Still University and Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Dr. Wilkinson holds a PhD in Physical Therapy (Nova Southeastern University, 2016), DPT (2004), MS (1999), and BS (1996) from Arizona institutions. Her research focuses on clinical education models, cultural safety in healthcare, and pediatric therapy. She has led initiatives on payment for clinical experiences, stakeholder collaboration, and holistic student success metrics.
Professional achievements include the Educator of the Year (2014) and Scholar of the Year (2020) awards from A.T. Still University. She has authored/co-authored 34 scholarly works and presented nationally on clinical education innovation. Current teaching includes courses on pediatric management, professional expectations, and patient-centered care.
