Tatiana Ringenberg is an Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity and Cyber Forensics at Purdue Polytechnic, Purdue University. She leads the GUARD (Guarding Users Against Risk and Deception) research group, focusing on social cybersecurity, human interactions in cybercrime, and digital safety education.
Education:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Purdue University
- PhD in 2021 (Purdue University)
Research Interests: Her work investigates social influence, manipulation, and adaptive behaviors in cybercrime contexts, with applications to online child safety, vigilante justice, fraud detection, and cybersecurity training. She emphasizes human-centered approaches to understanding cybercrime ecosystems.
Applied Impact: Ringenberg develops law enforcement training for cybercrime detection and delivers cybersecurity workshops for high school students. She previously worked in industry roles related to incident response, product security, and data privacy.
Teaching: She teaches courses in Research Methods, Social Engineering, Cyber Law and Ethics, and will lead Purdue’s Cyber Criminology course in Fall 2025.
