Dr. Tassia Joannides is an interdisciplinary artist and academic working at the intersection of art and fashion. She is currently the Associate Dean, Design in the School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University and holds a PhD in Art from the same institution.
Her research focuses on
- Representations of gendered and sexualized bodies
- Advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity through creative practice
- Exploration of wearable art, sculpture, and performance
- Founding member of Triple F+ Collective for female(+) identity research
Key areas of teaching expertise include Body and Gender studies, Feminism and Film Theory, and Site-specific Installation. She supervises Masters and PhD research students, with recent projects like Protagonist: A Choreography of Queer Digitality (2021).
Her creative research has been featured in events such as Melbourne Fashion Week (2018) and academic conferences like IFFTI 2022. She emphasizes practices of empathy and connection through art, while situating her work in the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people.
