Tarren Andrews

Tarren Andrews is Assistant Professor in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration at Yale University, specializing in critical Indigenous studies and early English literature. A Bitterroot Salish scholar and descendant of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, she earned her PhD from the University of Colorado, Boulder with certifications in Native American and Indigenous Studies.

Her research examines connections between early medieval English texts and Indigenous legal documents, revealing continuities in settler colonial logics. She publishes on Indigenous storytelling, language revitalization, and translation, including innovative 'reservation translations' of classical texts. Her teaching emphasizes Indigenous reading practices and theoretical frameworks.
