Tarrant McPherson is a Research Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. He is also a member of the Biostatistics Shared Resource at Winship Cancer Institute. Prior to Emory, he worked for nine years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a statistician, supporting clinical and public health research across disciplines like epidemiology and emergency preparedness. His research focuses on statistical modeling, biomarkers, clinical trials, survival analysis, and longitudinal analysis of neurological disorders such as myasthenia gravis, epilepsy, and tuberous sclerosis complex.
Dr. McPherson earned his Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He teaches BIOS 520: Clinical Trials and actively contributes to research in clinical trial design and outcomes analysis.
His publications span clinical trials, epilepsy management, and pandemic impacts on neurological patients. Key areas of interest include biomarker development, survival analysis techniques, and longitudinal study design in neurological conditions. He has collaborated on major trials like the PREVeNT study for tuberous sclerosis and the MGTX trial for myasthenia gravis.
Dr. McPherson’s work integrates advanced statistical methods with clinical research, emphasizing translational applications in public health. He is affiliated with Winship Cancer Institute’s biostatistics team, contributing to interdisciplinary oncology research.
