Tari Ajadi is an Assistant Professor of Black Politics in the Department of Political Science at McGill University. His research focuses on how Black activists in mid-sized Canadian cities strategize to drive change in policing and public health policies, emphasizing coalition-building and leveraging political opportunities within municipal and provincial institutions. He holds a PhD and MA from Dalhousie University and a BASc from Quest University Canada. His work intersects Black studies, Canadian politics, and critical race theory.

Research Interests: Ajadi’s work explores Black-led social movements, health equity, policing reform, and racial justice. He employs methods like institutional ethnography and autoethnography to center marginalized voices in policy analysis. His scholarship aims to support Black communities and align with Indigenous solidarity efforts in Canada.
Publications & Advocacy: His articles span academic journals and mainstream media, addressing topics like anti-Black racism during the pandemic and feminist foreign policy frameworks. He co-authored the influential 2022 report Defunding the Police: Defining the Way Forward for HRM.
Community Engagement: Ajadi co-founded the Nova Scotia Policing Policy Working Group and serves on boards such as the Health Association of African Canadians and the East Coast Prison Justice Society. These roles reflect his commitment to translating research into actionable advocacy.
