Tari A. King

Dr. Tari A. King is the Anne E. Dyson Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and holds leadership roles as Chief of Breast Surgery at Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center, Chief of the Division of Breast Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Vice Chair of Multidisciplinary Oncology. Her expertise focuses on breast cancer prevention, lobular carcinoma in situ, and optimizing surgical strategies for early-stage breast cancer. She directs the Breast Cancer Personalized Risk Assessment, Education and Prevention (B-PREP) Program.

Research Interests:
Dr. King’s work emphasizes translational research in breast cancer prevention, including low-dose tamoxifen trials (RENAISSANCE), aromatase inhibitor studies (BabyTears), and genetic risk mitigation via PARP inhibitors. She also investigates lifestyle interventions like exercise and weight management (BWEL trial) to reduce cancer risk.

Recipient of the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and leadership roles in the Society of Surgical Oncology and Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium.

Grants/Advising:
Leads multiple clinical trials and collaborates with institutions globally. Her B-PREP program connects high-risk patients with preventive strategies and trials. Active in designing personalized prevention tools targeting genetic and lifestyle risk factors.
