Dr. Tarek Salem is an Assistant Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at MacEwan University's School of Business (Department of Management and Organizations). He holds a DBA from Babson College (F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business), an MBA (Magna Cum Laude) from Babson College, and a B.Sc. from Cairo University. His research focuses on innovation strategies, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and organizational creativity, with expertise in utilities, construction, real estate, and education sectors. He advises Enactus students and supervises independent studies.
Dr. Salem has received grants including the School of Business Seed Fund (2018–2019) and prior project grants from National Commercial Bank (2012) and Dallah Holding Corporation (2011). He actively contributes to entrepreneurship education globally, including co-founding the Start Your Business Program in Jeddah (2005–2011) and leading Saudi-Chinese student exchange initiatives. Professional affiliations include the Canadian Association of Management Consultants and Project Management Institute.
His scholarly work emphasizes employee creativity’s impact on innovation outcomes and non-financial performance, with cultural and communication factors as key moderators. He has presented at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting and published in International Journal of Innovation Management.
