Tara L. Andrews is a University Professor of Digital Humanities at the Department of History, Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies, University of Vienna (since 2016). Her research bridges Byzantine and Armenian studies with computer-assisted methods, focusing on digital philology, textual data modeling, and gender categories in historical sources. She also leads the RELEVEN project (2021–2026) funded by an ERC Grant and contributes to the REWIRE initiative (2020–2025) under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie program.
- Education: D.Phil. in Oriental Studies (University of Oxford, 2009), M.Phil. in Byzantine Studies (University of Oxford, 2005), B.Sc. in Humanities and Engineering (MIT, 1999).
Her research explores the intersection of medieval history, linked data, and digital edition design. Current work includes Byzantine sigillography and translingual practices in Ottoman studies, using graph models to structure historical events and entities. She emphasizes the interface as an argumentative tool and advocates for methodological transparency in coding practices.
