Dr. Tara Chandrasekhar is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University, specializing in neurodevelopmental psychiatry with focus on autism spectrum disorders across the lifespan. Her clinical and research programs examine transition challenges for autistic youth, psychiatric medication safety, and mental health service accessibility.
Leadership: Serves as Program Director for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Research advisor for multiple NIH-funded studies including SOARS-B (Oxytocin in Autism) trial and Long-term Antipsychotic Pediatric Safety Trial.
Research investigates systemic barriers in mental healthcare delivery, particularly regarding college mental health services for neurodivergent students and cultural competence in clinical training programs.
