Dr. Tao Wei is an Associate Professor in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. His laboratory combines multiscale simulations with machine learning to develop functional materials for health, energy, and environmental applications. Research areas include biomaterials, polymer membranes, semiconductor polymers, quantum materials, and materials under extreme conditions.
With over $4M in funding from NSF, NASA, DoE and DoD, Dr. Wei's innovations include computational frameworks for protein corona formation prediction and antibiofouling material design. He directs research on biosensor development, abiotic-biotic interfacial redox processes, and polymer nanocomposites.
