Swansea Universityمعرفی
Dr Chengyuan Wang is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Swansea University's School of Aerospace, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He is affiliated with the Energy Safety Research Institute (ESRI) at Bay Campus. His research focuses on nano-mechanics of advanced materials and biomechanics of cellular cytoskeleton, emphasizing multiscale modeling techniques to study nanoscale crystal materials and protein polymers. Current work extends to biomedical engineering, developing cell-based electromechanical models for biosensors and mechanotransduction insights.
Research interests include mechanics of nanomaterials, electromechanical coupling at the nanoscale, small-scale effects in nanostructures, and biomedical applications of cell mechanics. Over 75 journal papers and 10+ conference contributions highlight his international impact in these areas. He advises PhD students on topics like nanobiosensors, embodied AI, and granular materials modeling. Supervised projects include ‘Electroelastic Vibration of Microtubules as Nanobiosensors for Early Cancer Diagnosis’ and ‘Machine Learning-Based Constitutive Modeling for Granular Materials’.
Key publications address nanocomposite interface mechanics, carbon nanotube desalination membranes, and microtubule electromechanics. His work bridges nanotechnology and biomedical engineering, aiming to transform cells into diagnostic tools and inform nanomaterial design. Active grants and collaborations include ESRI’s energy safety initiatives and Swansea’s Morgan Advanced Studies Institute (MASI).
