Tanyanne Ball

Tanyanne Ball is an Instructor in Criminal Justice at Mercy University's School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She joined the faculty in 2025 and is completing her PhD in Criminal Justice at the CUNY Graduate Center/John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

• BA in History of Art & French from University College London
• MSc in Forensic Investigation from Teesside University

Her research explores policing as a gendered institution, transformative dialogic processes in law enforcement, relationality, and cultural reform in policing. Her 2024 publication on peer support programs in intimate partner violence contexts reflects her focus on trauma-informed approaches to justice systems.

Beyond academia, Ball brings practical experience from UK policing, NYPD body-camera research, and HR roles in East New York charter schools, which shape her pedagogical emphasis on real-world applications of criminal justice theory.
