Tanya Wiggins is an Associate Professor at the School of Education at Pace University. With over 25 years of experience as an educator, she explores community-based youth organizations as educational spaces, focusing on youth-generated social capital and the intersection of education with societal structures.

Her research investigates the role of community-based organizations in fostering educational equity and social capital for marginalized youth. She leads initiatives like the Teachers of Color-Empowerment Network, funded by My Brother's Keeper Teacher Opportunity Corps II, to recruit and support educators from underrepresented communities.
Wiggins' recent publication, Higher Education in Prison: Context and Connections (2024), highlights interdisciplinary efforts in expanding educational access. Her work bridges sociology, urban studies, and inclusive educational practices.
She contributes extensively to institutional governance as a member of the Antiracist Education Committee, EdD Program Development Team, and as Chair of the Adolescent Program Committee. She also serves as a liaison to the New York City Department of Education for alternative certification programs.
