Tanya Barwick

Tanya Barwick serves as Senior Lecturer and Lead Mentor for Secondary Initial Teacher Education (ITE) at the University of Kent's School of Social Work, Education, and Teacher Education. She holds strategic responsibility for placement quality assurance, mentor training, and Department for Education (DfE) compliance across secondary ITE programs, including leadership in the university's newly accredited ITE provision from 2024.

Her professional focus centers on optimizing school-based teacher training through robust mentoring frameworks and quality assurance systems. She develops strategic approaches to placement allocation, mentor development, and partnership management between the university and schools, with emphasis on statutory compliance and trainee experience excellence.

In her advisory capacity, Barwick leads mentor training programs, oversees placement documentation systems, and analyzes placement experiences to drive continuous improvement.
