Tanya Bailey

Tanya Bailey is a Researcher affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences at the University of Tasmania. Her work focuses on terrestrial ecology, ecological restoration, and climate adaptation, particularly in eucalypt ecosystems. She has contributed to projects addressing restoration challenges in Tasmania's Midlands region, including carbon sequestration, seed provenance trials, and remote sensing applications.

She explores how environmental variables like temperature and rainfall influence species distribution and genetic adaptation, with a focus on Eucalyptus species. Her work also bridges ecology and community engagement, such as place-based education initiatives and collaborative restoration efforts.

Funded Projects: In 2017, she collaborated on a project titled Cultural landscapes: communicating ecological restoration, which explored creative methods to engage communities in restoration efforts. This project combined artistic practices with ecological science to enhance public participation.

Advising & Grants: She supervised Dr. Nicolo Camarretta’s doctoral research on Bridging the Divide between Remote Sensing and Forest Ecological Restoration, completed in 2021.
