Dr Tanveer Hussain is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting and Finance at the University of Essex, Essex Business School, Strategy, Operations and Entrepreneurship group, based at the Southend Campus. He has been in post since October 2022.

Research Interests: Dr Hussain investigates contemporary issues straddling finance, accounting and management. His core themes include cross-border mergers & acquisitions, ESG standards and bargaining power, green innovation in takeovers, corporate governance portability, and the impact of national cultural distance on synergistic gains. His work frequently employs large-scale empirical datasets and rigorous econometric techniques.
Publication Trends: Across 16 journal articles (2022-2025), Hussain’s scholarship traverses high-impact ABS 3/4 journals such as British Journal of Management, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, and Journal of Environmental Management. A clear trend emerges toward sustainability-oriented finance (green acquirers, ESG standards, environmental innovation) and governance mechanisms in M&A contexts, with a growing emphasis on emerging markets, particularly China.

He is actively supervising one PhD candidate, Rawan BNS Thani (Business Administration), and welcomes additional doctoral proposals in innovative finance, accounting and strategy topics.
Outreach & Service: He serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for leading journals and regularly presents at premier conferences such as EFMA, PFN and EIBA.
