Tanner Jankins

Tanner Jankins is a Visiting Researcher at the Materials Research Laboratory (MRL) of the University of California, Santa Barbara, working within the Craig Hawker Group. He joined the Hawker research group as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2024.

His educational background includes:

• B.S. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Northeastern University (2017)
• Ph.D. from The Scripps Research Institute (2022) under Professor Keary Engle

Prior to his Ph.D., he gained industry experience as a medicinal chemist at Novartis and conducted research at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST). His doctoral work focused on controlled alkene chain walking using tungsten catalysts, followed by postdoctoral studies with Professor Bill Morandi at ETH Zurich.

His research spans organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, and materials science with emphasis on catalytic reaction development and polymer synthesis.

Currently engaged in postdoctoral research at UCSB's MRL, he maintains active laboratory work in the Hawker group without formal advisees listed in available records.
