Tanmoy Maiti

Tanmoy Maiti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), where he has been serving since 2010 (promoted to Associate Professor in 2018). He previously held an Assistant Professor position at IIT Mandi in 2013 and completed postdoctoral research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Pennsylvania State University.

His research focuses on electronic materials and devices, nanophotonics, and clean energy technologies. Specific areas include thermoelectrics for waste-heat harvesting, electroceramics, oxide electronics (pyroelectrics and ferroelectrics), semiconductor devices, perovskite solar cells, and next-generation chip-scale technologies like RRAM and optical memory based on plasmonic lens. His work addresses critical challenges in energy conversion and electronic materials development.

Dr. Maiti has received numerous awards including the prestigious P K Kelkar Young Faculty Research Fellowship for outstanding research at IIT Kanpur. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Surface and Hybrid Coating Technology and Journal of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering.

He teaches courses including Nature and Properties of Materials, Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Materials, Phase Transformation in Materials, Materials for Semiconductor Industry, and specialized courses on Electroceramic Materials and Multifunctional Oxides Thin Films and Devices.
