Tanja Stocks is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology and a Researcher at Lund University Cancer Centre (LUCC) and EpiHealth: Epidemiology for Health at Lund University. She specializes in register-based epidemiology, focusing on obesity and related risk factors in disease and cancer outcomes.
- Active in the UN Sustainable Development Goals for Medical and Health Sciences
- Lead investigator for the Obesity and Disease Development Sweden (ODDS) study, linking body size data to national registers
- Former leader of the Metabolic syndrome and Cancer (Me-Can) project, resulting in over 35 studies
Research Trends: Recent publications emphasize obesity's role in cancer risk, particularly prostate and gastrointestinal cancers, using longitudinal cohort studies and mediation analysis. Her work integrates metabolic factors (e.g., triglyceride-glucose index) and public health implications of body mass index across diverse populations.
Projects: Currently leading studies on obesity-related cancer mortality (Prostatacancerförbundet, 2025–2027), longitudinal cancer risk in Sweden (Cancerfonden, 2023–2029), and rare cancers (Swedish Research Council, 2022–2025).
Collaborative Activities: Organized multiple LUCC Cancer Epidemiology workshops/seminars (2024–2025) and co-led interdisciplinary events with global researchers.
