Dr. Tanja Nijboer is an Associate Professor at Utrecht University with joint appointments in the Department of Psychology (Faculty of Social Sciences) and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at UMC Utrecht. She received the Betto Deelman Prize in 2019 for her contributions to neuropsychology.
Her research examines the neuropsychology of multisensory perception and spatial attention, combining cognitive neuroscience with clinical rehabilitation approaches. She develops novel assessment methods using eye-tracking and virtual reality to study visual working memory and attentional processes in clinical populations including stroke patients and those with Korsakoff syndrome.
Her recent publications demonstrate innovative applications of machine learning to neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. Current projects include VR4eVR, developing virtual reality tools for enhanced visual rehabilitation. She teaches neuropsychology and neuroscience courses while supervising PhD candidates in cognitive rehabilitation research.
