Prof. Dr. Tanja Kupisch is a Professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Konstanz since 2014 and an Associate Professor (Professor II) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway since 2015. She co-edits the journal Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism and focuses on bilingualism, trilingualism, bidialectalism, with a primary emphasis on syntax and phonology. Her research also explores the intersection of language and policy.
- Education: MA (2001) and PhD (2004) in Linguistics from the University of Hamburg
Her research projects include Students' Perceptions of Inequality and Fairness (PerFair) and Ethnic Policies – Remedy for Between-Group Inequalities. She has supervised numerous doctoral students and co-supervised cross-institutional theses, including studies on Spanish word order, Italian adjectives, and trilingual sound systems. Her work extends to developing assessment tools for regional minority languages like Sicilian (LexSic) and Venetan (LexVen), addressing the gap between self-assessment and actual linguistic maintenance.
