Tanika Sgherza is a PhD candidate and Research Officer at the School of Psychological Science, The University of Western Australia. She holds roles as a Casual Teaching staff member and is completing her Doctor of Philosophy under the supervision of Dr. Kristin Gainey and Dr. Rodrigo Becerra. Her research focuses on promoting wellbeing in individuals with psychological symptoms, particularly investigating associations between anxiety, depression, and wellbeing.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (Psychological Science and Psychology in Society), UWA (2018)
- First Class Honours in Psychology, UWA (2020) – Thesis on mindfulness and meaning
Research interests include mindfulness, mental health, psychophysiological monitoring via wearable devices, and clinical psychology applications. She contributed to the FEEL Study as Research Coordinator, exploring emotional wellbeing and psychological outcomes through the Emotional Wellbeing Lab. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing globally.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Emotional Wellbeing Lab and collaborates on the FEEL Study. Recent publications focus on dual-continua mental health models, wearable device validation, and mindfulness theory applications.
