Taniedra Savette Young

Taniedra Savette Young is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at The University of Texas at Arlington since January 2017. She holds a B.A. in Communication (2007) from UTA, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of North Texas (2010), and an M.A. in Communication from Southern New Hampshire University (2017). Prior to academia, she worked in Human Resources and taught high school Speech Communication for 10 years in Dallas ISD.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes diverse learning styles and peer collaboration, serving as a mentor for students in public speaking courses. She has consistently taught COMS 1301 (Fundamentals of Public Speaking) across multiple sections since 2017, including Spring 2025.

Young actively participates in departmental service through roles on the Recruiting Committee and Special Events Committee since 2017. She maintains a Texas Education Agency certification for Speech (Grades 8-12) valid until 2027.
