Tania Ruiz is a Lecturer in the Visual Arts Department at Paris 8 University, specializing in interdisciplinary public art installations. Her work intersects urban studies, digital media, and contemporary art, focusing on temporal dynamics, spatial interaction, and sociocultural narratives. She has created large-scale projects like Elsewhere (2010) and Orebro Variations (2017), which explore public spaces through video, sculpture, and generative systems.
Research interests include the intersection of art and urban environments, the role of technology in public installations, and the ephemeral nature of artistic interventions. Awards include the European Prize for Urban Public Space (2012–2013). Collaborations with institutions like Medea LAB and Nordisk Film Festival highlight her engagement with academic and artistic communities.
Her projects often raise questions about memory, identity, and place, such as The Missing Picture (2016) and Nydala Intervention (2016), which interrogate urban histories and collective narratives. Recent work includes L'ADN en jeu (2023), a research project examining DNA data and medicalization with Maria Hellström.
