Dr. Tan Ji Wei is a Lecturer in the Malaysia School of Science at Monash University Malaysia, specializing in Immunopharmacology and natural product-based therapeutics. He holds a PhD from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2016), with prior academic qualifications in Biomedical Science (BSc, 2011) and Cell Biology (MSc, 2013). His research focuses on leveraging phytochemicals and natural products to combat allergies, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases, particularly through cellular and molecular signaling pathways.
Teaching commitments include courses such as PHA3800 (Fundamentals of Toxicology) and BTH2752 (Cellular Metabolomics of Macronutrients). He actively supervises Honours students, with notable advisees including Fung Qian Ling and completed graduates like Elvia Ramawy and Fahmida Islam. Dr. Tan has secured grants exceeding RM 170,000, including the High Impact Research Support Fund (2022) and Monash University grants.
His research contributions span 19 publications, with recent work exploring stingless bee honey's anti-allergic potential and mast cell stabilization mechanisms. Notable accolades include the Excellence in Honours Supervision Award (2023) and Gold Medal in i-PicTL (2022). He leads or collaborates on projects addressing antiviral properties of honey and diabetes management strategies.
