Tan C. Nguyen serves as Professor and John Kelly Endowed Chair at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT), directing the Production and Drilling Research Project (PDRP) within the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. His academic leadership focuses on advancing oil and gas extraction technologies through applied research and industry collaboration.
His research expertise spans critical petroleum engineering domains including Managed Pressure Drilling, Wellbore Integrity assessment, Well Completion techniques, Hydraulic Stimulation methods, Directional/Horizontal Drilling optimization, and Artificial Lift systems (ESP, Gas Lift, PCP, Plunger Lift, Hydraulic Pumps). The PDRP research group specializes in solving field challenges related to multilateral wells and production efficiency under complex reservoir conditions.
