Professor Mofazzal Hossain holds a faculty position at Curtin University within the WASM: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering school. With a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, he specializes in reservoir stimulation via hydraulic fracturing, wellbore stability, and CO2-shale interactions. His work spans unconventional tight/shale gas reservoirs, horizontal well technology, and numerical modeling of fluid flow in porous media.
- Education: PhD (Petroleum Engineering, UNSW), MSc (Eng.), FIEAust (Fellow of Institute of Engineers Australia), CpEng (Chartered Professional Engineer)
- Research Interests: Hydraulic Fracturing Design, Rock Fracture Mechanics, Sand Production Prediction, and Supercritical CO2 Reservoir Interactions
- Publication Trends: Recent work focuses on hydrogen storage well integrity, CO2 geochemical modeling, and optimization of unconventional reservoirs.
Scientific Awards:
- Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia (FIEAust)
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CpEng)
Advising & Grants: Directed numerous academic research projects for petroleum engineering students (honors, masters, PhD) and secured funding from organizations including Chevron, Conoco Phillips, and Santos. Collaborated with the Reservoir Engineering Research Institute (RERI) on multi-component reservoir simulation projects.
