Tamsin Jones is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Trinity College since 2013. Her academic journey includes a B.A. (Honors) in Religious Studies from McGill University, an M.T.S. (Master of Theological Studies), and a Th.D. (Doctor of Theology) from Harvard Divinity School.
Her research focuses on the paradoxes and tensions within religious thought, particularly exploring apophatic traditions in Christian history and contemporary intersections of trauma, religion, and phenomenology. She is the author of A Genealogy of Marion’s Philosophy of Religion: Apparent Darkness (2011) and is currently working on a second book titled Sacralizing Excess: Trauma, Religion, and Phenomenology.
In teaching, she emphasizes close reading, clear thinking, and writing, leveraging Religious Studies to challenge familiar assumptions and deepen understanding of diverse traditions.
