Tamra Wright

Tamra Wright serves as a Lecturer at the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University Indianapolis, where she teaches criminal justice and public affairs courses since joining in 2016. Her cross-sector expertise spans over two decades in public education reform, nonprofit leadership, and systems-level program design.

Dr. Wright's research critically examines the intersection of social work and criminal justice, with concentrated focus on juvenile justice systems. She investigates how structural and institutional dynamics shape service delivery, practitioner experiences, and outcomes for justice-involved youth through qualitative inquiry methods, particularly hermeneutic phenomenology. Her scholarship actively contributes to justice system reform debates and promotes interprofessional collaboration frameworks. As a trained mediator and intergroup dialogue (IGD) facilitator, she partners with campus and community organizations to advance communication and shared understanding in practice contexts.
