Prof. Dr. Tamer AKAN is a full-time Professor and currently serves as the Head of the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science, Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Turkey. He has been a central figure in the academic and administrative life of the department since 1994, contributing significantly to research, education, and institutional development.
His academic journey began with honors at Istanbul University, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics, followed by a Ph.D. in 2003. He has held visiting positions at international institutions including the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (Romania), Ovidius University (Romania), and Old Dominion University (USA).

His research output includes nearly 200 national and international publications, extensive project involvement (including 20 national projects and international grants), and active peer reviewing. He has supervised master's and Ph.D. students and contributed to textbook development and philosophy publications.

Prof. AKAN has also served as a physics expert witness for the Eskişehir Republic Prosecutor's Office and as a Textbook Review Panelist for the Turkish Ministry of Education. He is fluent in English and actively teaches in both Turkish and English. He leads the Cold Plasma Laboratory at ESOGÜ, which he helped establish in 1997, and continues to advance research in plasma applications and materials science.
