Dr. Tamara West is a Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School, focusing on cultural heritage, regional development, and interdisciplinary methodologies. She leads the AHRC-DCMS-funded 'Cultural Heritage, People and Place' project, examining the value of heritage through National Museums Liverpool's Waterfront Transformation Project. As Co-Investigator on the AHRC-DFG project 'Romani Migration between Germany and Britain (1880s-1914)', she co-creates GIS mappings of historical migration patterns. Previously, she led an ESRC-funded project on transnational memory practices in digital exhibitions between the UK and South Korea.
Her academic background includes a PhD in Cultural Geography (focused on post-WWII displaced persons' memory through photography) and a BA in Film, Photography, and Graphic Media. She holds an Honorary Senior Research Fellowship at the University of Liverpool.
West actively contributes to research governance as a UKRI Interdisciplinary Assessment College panel member, ESRC Peer Review College member, and AHRC Expert Reviewer. Her work spans collaborations with institutions like the German Historical Institute, National Museums Liverpool, and the University of Seville's racialization history project.
