Dr. Tamara Stenn is an Associate Professor of Practice in Management and Entrepreneurship at Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School. Her research focuses on social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and fair trade, with a particular emphasis on indigenous communities in Bolivia. She holds a DA from Franklin Pierce University, an MA from SIT Graduate Institute, and a BS from the University of Maryland. Dr. Stenn is a Fulbright Scholar (2015–2018) and recipient of the Paul R. Lawrence Fellowship (2020).
Her work includes founding the Sustainability Lens Game and A Perfect Seed cooperative, as well as leading research on Bolivia’s women quinoa growers. She authored Social Entrepreneurship as Sustainability (2017) and co-edited works on fair trade and neurodiversity in the workplace. Professional roles include serving as Treasurer of the Windham World Affairs Council and grant writer for the Human Development Capabilities Approach group.
Research Interests: Dr. Stenn’s research bridges theory and practice, examining how enterprises can promote social justice and sustainability. Her projects include applying Amartya Sen’s capabilities approach to measure sustainable development, analyzing fair trade’s impact on indigenous women, and fostering inclusive workplaces for neurodiverse individuals. She emphasizes participatory methodologies and ethnographic case studies to ensure community voices shape outcomes.
Her recent work explores neurodiversity inclusion in entrepreneurial environments, leveraging frameworks like Universal Design for Learning to enhance workplace equity. She also investigates Andean spiritual practices’ role in sustainable entrepreneurship.
