Tamara Mans

Tamara Mans is a Professor at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC), where she has taught biology and genetics courses since 2005. With expertise in molecular biology and genomics education, she integrates Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) into her teaching and advises the Biomedical Science Club.

• Education: BS in Biology from The College of New Jersey, MA and PhD in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, and postdoctoral research at Rockefeller University on Trypanosoma brucei gene expression.

Her research focuses on RNA editing in slime molds and the pedagogical impact of collaborative CUREs. She is affiliated with national networks like the Genomics Education Partnership (GEP) and Malate Dehydrogenase CUREs Community (MCC).

• Current teaching: Principles of Biology, Genetics, and Biology I for allied health careers.
• Methodology: Uses case studies, electronic clicker systems, and hands-on genomics research projects.
