Tamara Leith Treanore is an academic, Director, and Instructor in Orthotist and Prosthetist Assistant Studies at the School of Health Sciences, Oakland University. Her role combines administrative leadership with teaching, focusing on technical applications, materials, and functional design in orthotics and prosthetics. She holds a B.S. from Wayne State University and specialized certification in Orthotics from Northwestern University Prosthetics Orthotics Center.
Her research emphasizes rehabilitation challenges for vulnerable populations such as polio survivors, stroke patients, and individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or multiple sclerosis (MS). She previously taught at Baker College, where she developed open educational resources (OERs) for orthotic/prosthetic programs and led the Pedorthist Program under the Hope Careers Consortium. Currently, she designs curricula, oversees clinical training, and refines lab infrastructure for Oakland University's OPA Studies program.
Professional affiliations include the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics, and the Board of the Michigan Polio Network. Her work bridges academic instruction with hands-on patient care innovation.
