Tamara J. Cella is an Assistant Professor & Director of Early Childhood Education at the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education. She holds an Ed.D from Johns Hopkins University (Dissertation: Social Emotional Learning: A Professional Development Model for Family Child Care Providers), an MBA in Business Administration, and advanced degrees in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and a B.A. in Journalism from New York University.

Her research focuses on integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) into early childhood education, particularly for students with disabilities. She explores literacy systems, change management for improved literacy outcomes, and the intersection of reading challenges and SEL. Recent conference presentations include topics like dyslexia's social impact and equity in early childhood education.
She is a 2024/2025 Mulcahy Institute for Social Justice Faculty Fellow, Board Member of Girls on the Run (Central NJ), and former Vice President of the Edgewater Board of Education (2020–2023).
