Tamara Fitzgerald is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Research Professor of Global Health at Duke University School of Medicine. Her work focuses on global pediatric surgery and healthcare access in low-income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Education: MD (2004) and PhD (2004) from Boston University; General Surgery Residency (2004-2011) and Pediatric Surgery Fellowship (2011-2013) at Yale University.
Research Interests include surgical capacity building, ethical challenges in global surgery, and technology solutions for low-resource environments. She has led projects in Uganda, Kenya, and Mozambique to address surgical disparities.
