Tama Leventhal is a Professor and Chair of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study & Human Development at Tufts University, with a joint appointment in the Department of Urban & Environmental Policy & Planning. She holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University (1999) and a BA in Psychology from Colgate University (1991).
Her research focuses on the intersection of child development and social policy, particularly examining how neighborhood and housing contexts influence children, youth, and families. Key interests include poverty, immigrant families, and the effects of housing policies on child well-being. She co-directs the Housing and Children's Healthy Development Study, a large-scale experimental and non-experimental project.
