Tallulah Lines

Tallulah Lines is a Researcher affiliated with the Department of Women's Studies at the University of York. Her work focuses on the intersection of art, human security, and gender violence in femicidal cultures, particularly in Mexico and among displaced populations in Latin America. She holds an MRes in Women’s Studies (2017–2018, University of York) and an MA in History (2005–2009, University of Edinburgh).

Her research explores how artistic practices—such as murals and visual narratives—challenge systemic gender-based violence and reimagine security beyond institutional frameworks. Key themes include the role of art in documenting femicide, the politicization of care in migration contexts, and the limitations of securitized responses to gender violence.

Lines has presented at conferences including the Latin American Studies Association (2022–2024), the Political Studies Association (2022), and RightsCon Tunis (2019). Her recent publications analyze Venezuelan displacement in Brazil and the use of mural art by migrant women in Mexico to resist violence and assert agency.

Her work is supervised by Professor Sara de Jong and Harriet Gray. She actively engages with feminist methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to human security.
