Talar Markossian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Loyola University Chicago's Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. Her research focuses on advancing knowledge about the value of health services to improve population health, particularly in areas such as chronic kidney disease management, cost-effectiveness analysis, and health policy. She holds a PhD in Public Health Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an MPH in Health Services Administration from the American University of Beirut, and a B.S. in Biology from the American University of Beirut.
Her work emphasizes eliminating health outcome disparities, with a focus on strategies to enhance healthcare efficiency and equity. Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding blood pressure control in vulnerable populations, telehealth applications in chronic disease management, and healthcare cost-effectiveness analyses.
Dr. Markossian teaches courses in health services research methods and public health policy. Her research collaborations span institutions such as the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System and academic medical centers, addressing topics like therapeutic inertia in hypertension management, frailty in hemodialysis patients, and the integration of community health workers into hospital systems.
Her work has been supported by grants and partnerships focused on translational medicine, health innovation, and implementation science. She is actively involved in research teams such as the Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR) and the Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM).
