معرفی
Dr. Takashi Okada is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide's School of Biomedicine, within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He leads the Mitochondrial Genetics group at the Robinson Research Institute, focusing on mitochondrial function in reproductive biology. His research examines how mitochondrial deficiencies and supplementation in oocytes impact transcriptome profiles, DNA methylation, and gene expression in embryos and adult tissues. He holds a PhD from Tohoku University (Japan) and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Melbourne and CSIRO before joining Adelaide in 2012.
- Expertise: Molecular biology, developmental and reproductive biology, genetics, and bioinformatics
- Current Projects: Investigating mitochondrial effects on fertility, oocyte quality, and embryo development using pig models
His work addresses long-standing debates on mitochondrial DNA methylation in mammals and explores translational impacts of mitochondrial supplementation. Dr. Okada has contributed to studies on wheat hybrid breeding and pollen allergen characterization, reflecting his broader interest in both plant and animal reproductive systems.
