معرفی
Taija Mäkinen is a Professor at Uppsala universitet's Department of Biochemistry and Developmental Biology. Previously, she held roles at the Cancer Research UK London Research Institute and Uppsala universitet, including Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (2013–2019). Her research focuses on lymphatic and vascular biology, particularly mechanisms of endothelial cell specification and disease modeling. She leads projects funded by organizations like Syöpäsäätiö and Sigrid Juséliuksen Säätiö.
Her research interests span biomedicine, biochemistry, and developmental genetics, with emphasis on lymphatic system development and molecular pathways in diseases like cancer. Recent work includes studies on venous malformations, cytoskeletal dynamics in lymphatic endothelium, and genetic tools for conditional mouse models.
Collaborations involve international teams investigating lymphatic-vascular interactions and immunomodulatory roles of lymphatic endothelium. Active grants include projects on the role of Interleukin-13 in lung cancer and immunomodulatory mechanisms in lymphatic systems.
