Tadeusz Samerek is an Assistant Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, Poland. He holds a postdoctoral degree (2012) and was awarded the title of Professor of Art in 2020. Since 2002, he has taught in the Department of String Instruments under Faculty II – Instrumental Studies. Active in both performance and academia, he has led ensembles like the Trio Melankolic and collaborated with composers such as Marek Czerniewicz, premiering works like *Miserere-Medytacja* (2006). His scholarly contributions include co-authoring *Chopin-Schumann at the Sources of Romantic Inspirations* (2000) and a monograph exploring Enneagram-based interpretation of cello sonatas (2011).
His research interests span Romantic-era music, contemporary composition, and pedagogical methodologies integrating psychology and performance techniques. Notable achievements include winning the 5th International Karol Penderecki Competition (2001) and serving on the Academy’s governing council (2019–2025). He has mentored over 17 students, emphasizing technical mastery and artistic expression in his teaching.
Awarded scholarships from the Minister of Culture (1995) and Gdańsk Medici, Samerek’s performances often focus on contemporary works, with recordings like *Katharsis* (1998) ranking highly in jazz forums. His interdisciplinary approach combines musicology with psychological frameworks, enriching both his pedagogy and artistic practice.
