Tadesse Alemu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. His work focuses on tectonics, sedimentary basin analysis, and morphotectonic studies in regions such as the East African Rift System, Ethiopian Plateau, and midcontinent areas like Michigan. He employs techniques including paleomagnetism, structural geology, and geophysical analysis to explore continental dynamics and landscape evolution.
Research interests include the tectonic origins of geological features, basin exhumation processes (e.g., IntraCONtinental Sags), and the interplay between tectonics and stratigraphy. His studies often integrate field data with laboratory analysis, such as sedimentary facies analysis and geochemical weathering indices. Recent work has uncovered the first sauropod dinosaur fossils in Ethiopia and provided new insights into Rodinia's Neoproterozoic configuration via Jacobsville Formation paleomagnetism.
