TAN Wee Boon is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the National University of Singapore (NUS), affiliated with the Faculty of Science. He holds a Ph.D. (2014) and B.Sc. (2005) from NUS. His research focuses on theoretical investigations of electrical/magnetic properties in transition metal sandwich molecular clusters and infinite molecular wires, alongside contributions to new undergraduate teaching laboratories in physical chemistry.
Teaching contributions include courses such as CM2143 (Analytical Chemistry Toolkit), CM3292 (Advanced Analytical/Physical Chemistry Experiments), CM5102 (Chemistry in Society), and CM5223 (Supramolecular Chemistry Topics).
His recent research explores bacterial membrane lipid homeostasis, outer membrane asymmetry, and Tol-Pal complex functions through genetic and biochemical analyses. Notable findings include discoveries about phospholipid transporter localization and YhcB protein roles in coordinating cell envelope components.
No scientific awards are explicitly listed. He has advised no formally listed students but contributes to laboratory education development. His work is conducted within the Department of Chemistry's facilities at Block S8, Level 3, Singapore.
