T. Kyle Vanderlick is the Dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Yale University and the Thomas E. Golden, Jr. Professor of Engineering. She holds a B.S. (1981) and M.S. (1983) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. (1988) from the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on interfacial phenomena, including synthetic and biological membranes, structured surfaces, and adhesion forces. Notable contributions include the development of μ-dusters for particulate contamination removal and studies of membrane-based materials for biomedical applications.
Key awards include the David and Lucile Packard Fellowship (1991), Presidential Young Investigator Award (1989), and teaching honors such as the Lindback Award (1993) and President’s Award (2002). Her work spans collaborations on vesicle interactions, nanotechnology, and biomedical engineering. The Vanderlick Lab, located at 55 Prospect Street in New Haven, CT, drives interdisciplinary research in materials and surface science.
