SİBEL MAÇKA KALFA

Assoc. Prof. Sıbel Maçka Kalfa is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Karadeniz Technical University, where she has worked since 2007. Her academic journey includes a Doctorate (2014) and Postgraduate (2008) from Karadeniz Technical University, focusing on energy efficiency and building performance in Turkish climate zones.

• Research Interests: Sustainable architecture, building information modeling (BIM), energy efficiency in buildings, climate-responsive design, and physical urban protection.

Her research integrates Building Simulation, Phase Change Materials (PCM), and Climate Adaptation, with a focus on optimizing building envelopes for energy performance. Recent work includes innovative Pumice Blocks with PCM (2023) and analyses of Ventilated Wall Constructions (2022). She has supervised 10 theses on topics like Net Zero Energy Buildings and Double Skin Facades.

Scientific contributions span 57 publications, including SCI-indexed journals. Notable projects include a LIVENARCH 2017 grant exploring livable environments. She serves as Deputy Head of Department (2021–present) and has held roles on the Faculty Board (2019–2021).
